SUPER PUPPY COURSE (4-week course with 4 hours of training)
We teach on a 1:1 basis for owners who prefer a more hands-on and personal approach to training, which group classes can’t always offer. We teach in your home and outdoors in local parks to reinforce behaviour in a real life environment.
Basic obedience – 3 indoor sessions in your home
Basic obedience is a must for all new puppy owners! We need to teach our puppies to respond to us as their owners and to teach them the art of impulse control and general manners. Over the course of 3 sessions in the comfort of your own home, we will teach your puppy to:
- Sit on voice cue
- Lie down on voice cue
- Give a paw on voice cue
- Prevent unwanted behaviours such as jumping up
- Play appropriately with people
- Give us their attention
- Wait in position until you return (most useful when answering the front door)
- Get our puppies used to being handled (as a vet or groomer would)
- Get our puppies used to people being around their food, chews and treats (to prevent possessive behaviours)
We can also advise on the following most common development areas:
- Separation Anxiety
- Toilet Training
- Crate Training
Outdoor and Explore – 1 outdoor session
This stage takes the basic level the puppies have learnt as we venture out with you into the great outdoors; full of smells and distractions! During the outdoor session we will work with you and your puppy on an increased level of obedience and impulse control:
- Recall training – teaching your puppy to come back when called
- Loose lead walking – teaching your puppy to walk on a loose lead (very important for large breeds)
The Process
All sessions are 1 hour long. We provide handouts so that the whole family can practice what we’ve covered at home afterwards. We suggest doing a minimum of 1 session a week and then ask that the owners practise what we’ve covered before we move onto the next session – a bit like doggy homework! We understand that puppies will be at different levels and so we can of course repeat any session if necessary and owners can book as many or as few sessions as required.
